Locksmithing is an art inspired by the craft of blacksmithing, in which Iranian locksmiths make locks, with all their differences, in a geometric form. Using toreutics and hammering techniques, Mohsen Kiani has created “The Abjad Letters ( Pure Five Al al-Aba)” set of locks over a period of four months. This collection includes five key-patterned locks made of iron that have been transformed into steel through the process of blacksmithing. The keys of these locks are placed inside them and are opened and closed using a code of abjad Letters writing system engraved on the locks. Along the Aslimi patterns, the names of the Pure Five ( Mohammad , Ali, Fāṭima, Hasan, and Hossein ) are engraved and gilded on the locks. These locks should be kept away from humidity.
