After being cut, many pieces of wood come out irregularly and are usually discarded as waste. Mr. Mohammad Ali Vadood crafted a volumetric vessel named “One Thousand and One Nights” using an innovative method called "Irregular Piece Assembly." In this approach, irregular pieces of different woods are reintroduced to the production cycle without altering their shape or essence. In this artwork, 260 pieces of wood from trees like maple, jujube, acacia, elm, ash, oleaster, walnut, and oak are assembled next to each other. After being bonded with adhesive, the piece was crafted using woodturning techniques. Ms. Shadi Habib collaborated in color coordination and comparative geometry.
The “One Thousand and One Nights” piece was selected in the Handcrafts and Design section of the a'Design Award in Italy in 2020 and was chosen for the International Craft Award by the World Craft Council in India in 2022. This artwork should be protected from impacts.
